As many as 17,000 children have been affected by the severe flash flooding and landslides that swept through the Nepal-China border region on August 26.

The flooding caused massive destruction and devastation for communities in the area, with more than 450 lives confirmed lost and over 1,000 reported missing.

The loss of homes, schools, roads and essential infrastructure like healthcare clinics and power plants will make rebuilding a major challenge – and girls are the most at risk.
